University of Arizona Transcript
The following is a copy of my college transcripts, showing the breadth and depth of my training in my content area. I have taken literature classes that focus on a wide variety of historical periods and genres, as well as other classes to give me a wider multi-cultural perspective. I have a thorough grounding in American and British literature, the area that the University of Arizona focuses on specifically in the design of the English Major. I also took Creative Writing classes, which focused heavily on peer editing. This focused my ability to write and edit and help my peers to better polish their own work to include consistent themes, organization, and ideas.
These transcripts reveal my content knowledge as an English teacher, and the extent to which I mastered the content that I want to teach. It shows that I mastered the language and the disciplines that I was exposed to throughout my student career, and demonstrates my knowledge of a wide variety of cultural diverse topics (InTASC Standard 4:j, l, m)The variety of classes I have been exposed to shows my ability to recognize multiple perspectives within my field (InTASC Standard 4p). Because of the wide variety of classes, and my mastery of the material in each, this transcript shows that I understand the variety of ways of knowing and thinking in my field, and that I can recognize strengths and weaknesses in the various approaches I was exposed to as a student, thus helping me be able to appropriately implement this knowledge in my classroom (InTASC Standard 5i). The classes I have taken outside of my content area show that I value knowledge from outside my content area, and intend to use this knowledge to enhance student learning (InTASC Standard 5r).
